The departure it's located in the Gorizia Centrale railway station. Just outside the station, we proceed in the direction of the Piuma area where as soon as we reach the town we turn to the right slightly downhill, having the Oslavia Shrine in sight on the left.
At the end of the descent we are in the Busa dal Diau area, where a 1 km long climb begins from crossing the Piumizza stream, at the top of this, in the Case Noris area, we take a downhill road on the right and after 900 m the stop is in Castel San Mauro, after a break and a snack we go up a mule track that climbs through the woods, after a steeply sloping stretch we cross the invisible state border. From here there is a cart track that winds along the right bank of the Isonzo, known as the Salcano cycle path.

Sabotino is an extraordinary place and its vast panorama which ranges from the Vipava valley, to the Isonzo Karst, to the Friulian plain, to the Adriatic sea, to the Collio, to the Alpine circle, to the narrow course of the Isonzo and to the Tarnova plateau is something unique and special.
The cross-border itinerary includes crossing the border from the agricultural pass of S. Valentino, which before Slovenia's entry into the Schengen area could only be crossed by holders of a particular pass, runs along a stretch of the Osimo road, climbs up to the road Slovenian panoramic view, reaches the old Yugoslav barracks, crosses the border into Italy, touches the Italian barracks, and the hermitage of S. Valentino and finally with an exciting descent, or rather a dive, reaches Castel San Mauro, the starting point of this fantastic route.

From Gorizia you reach Castel San Mauro where Manuele awaits you for a guided wine tasting upon reservation, from here in 5 minutes you are in Solcano and then Most na Soči passing through Gargar, Čepovan and the Bainsizza plateau. You return to Tolmin along the Isonzo river up to Kanal where you take the secondary road (cycle path G-1 from Plave onwards) that runs alongside the Transalpina railway.
