Our firm is located in the north-east strip of the suggestive hilly region that encircle Gorizia and take the name of COLLIO. It extends on a farm of 25 hectares of which 5 are cultivated vineyards.
Conditions as the peaceful vineyard made by marl and sand stone that looks towards midday have made easy the culture of vine for a long time.
The grapes of our firm CASTEL SAN MAURO grows on these slopes that the Mount SABATINO, subsiding the cold winds from north-east, protects submitting to the temperate climate of the near ADRIATICO.
From the 50’s, when Gilberto Barnaba bought these farm and the old manor, the vineyards were cultivate with passion from the owner and his family, who created also new installations.
After Gilberto Barnaba, his daughter Gilberta take care of the firm as present owner. She entrusted in 1999 her son Manuele Mauri with the task of run the farm and the wine-cellar.
